Since 2016, socialism has exploded into the political debate, especially among young people. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) 2016 presidential campaign ignited its appeal among those grieved by the worst aspects of capitalism. By 2018, Democratic Socialists and the Squad burst onto the scene, and the media gave them a lot of air time. They’ve made a career out of bashing wealthy people, many of whom worked hard and sacrificed much to attain their financial freedoms.
In December 2021. Gallup showed that the socialist movement has been stable since 2010. It has hovered around 38% approval rating despite Sanders’ constant demagoguing about his desire for the government to expand its powers over Americans’ lives through health care, poverty programs, and childhood education.
Despite the movement’s stability, it is still a direct threat to America. It goes against the grain of the country’s founding and what made America the greatest country in the history of the world. Fortunately, it would appear that many Americans see Democratic Socialists and Bernie Sanders for who they really are — frauds.
Despite serving most of his adult life in government service, Sanders has found a way to use his elected office to become extremely rich.
Yet, what has he accomplished for his constituents or America?
In the 2020 presidential Democratic primary, Sanders argued for bigger government and higher taxes on millionaires. He often scolds the rich as corrupt and greedy. Of course, the far-left radical Senator knows that Congress isn’t going to prescribe his policies, at least not in the foreseeable future. Still, he managed to become a part of the 1% he blasts with passionate regularity.
He should have been more careful.
In 2019, Sanders got caught by some in the media for not paying his “fair share” of taxes. His answer — he legally took advantage of the tax laws, as anyone would in his situation..
The fact is, the IRS will allow him not to take any exemptions or deductions. The government will also let him give them more money. All he has to do is write a check. Like so many on the Left, they don’t want to give away their money when they can legislate that citizens should do it. At the same time, the Left can create loopholes through deductions and credits they can use to avoid paying the taxes they enact.
Sanders’s behavior, like so many of the far-left, often contradicts their narratives. For example, earlier this week, Fox News hosts on The Five exposed a flaw in the socialist Senator.
Sanders is releasing a new book. In doing so, he’s embracing capitalism to promote it. On March 1, he’ll be holding an anti-capitalism event in Washington, DC, to promote the new title, “It’s Okay To Be Angry About Capitalism.”
Here’s the catch — it’s not FREE.
If you want to hear an anti-capitalist, it’ll cost you $95. The book isn’t free, either. It’ll set you back between $22 and $28.
The Five’s co-host Dana Perino said Sanders is a “walking advertisement for why the Left is full of crap.”
Co-host Judge Jeanine Pirro stated, “Why would you bother to pay the $95? And if you think about it, if the minimum wage is something like $17, you literally have to work the whole day to pay to watch him give his speech. I mean, none of it makes sense. It’s classic hypocrisy.”
Always interesting, Greg Gutfield added that Sanders should give away the tickets or require half the audience to pay for the tickets of the other half.
If conservatives were smart, they would continually expose how the Left uses politics and capitalism to enrich themselves while promising young people a bed of thorns. The best way for bad ideas to die is to reveal the false pledges and their hypocrisy.
Not that some aren’t trying, but it’s not enough since the Left has exerted a growing influence over the Democratic Party over the last decade.
Three years ago, Campus Reform went to Bernie Sanders’s backyard to talk with students at the University of New Hampshire. Granted, it’s not Vermont, but it’s close enough.
Unshockingly, the young adults went on and on and praised the Democratic Socialist’s authenticity. They said they trusted him because he practiced what he preached.
Then the floor fell out from underneath them when they learned he was very rich. That’s right — they didn’t know Sanders was a millionaire. Many students said his actions didn’t match his words, noting his hypocrisy.
So, is America calming down about the prospect of the socialist movement growing? Let’s hope not.
As President Ronald Reagan said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.”
If conservatives don’t start standing up for America by outsmarting the Left, the admitted socialists won’t mind sacrificing your liberties for their gains. If you want to look at how it’s been successfully done, look no further than Florida and Gov. Ron DeSantis. Not only has he pushed back on the Left, but he’s also managed to take a purple state and turn it deep red in four years. It took courage, bravery, and a willingness to engage in the debate head-on.
Common sense goes a long way in America. People are receptive to it when the Left is exposed for their frauds. Their economic and social agenda is ultimately destructive and erosive.
So, will you be buying Sanders’s new book railing on capitalism while he participates in it?
