In the 1990s, Democratic strategist Ruy Teixeira wrote one of the most iconic political books in recent history. He argued the Hispanic voting bloc would grow significantly over the following thirty years. The political strategist said it would occur partly due to illegal immigration’s influence over time. Democrats took his playbook and fought aggressively to allow illegal immigrants into the country over the last 20 years. They believed Hispanics would become the key to winning elections and creating a permanent majority. Now, Teixeira says Democrats got it wrong as Hispanics are largely moving into the GOP camp as Democrats move sharper to the Left against their conservative cultural leanings.
In the 2020 presidential election, then-Democratic candidate Joe Biden started virtue signaling. He slammed President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, calling them inhumane, immoral, and unethical. Biden suggested as president, he would allow anyone who wanted to enter the country could freely enter. Since January 2021, illegal immigration has exploded to record highs along the southern border. Human and drug trafficking are out of control. In turn, GOP governors fought back, and Democrats are virtue signaling once again in a show of extreme hypocrisy. The question is, will it hurt them even more with Hispanic voters, who the polls largely ignore now, but they could decide who controls Congress in less than eight weeks.
DeSantis Exposes Sanctuary Districts
For years, one of America’s wealthiest communities said it was a sanctuary district. Martha’s Vineyard prides itself on its diversity philosophy. Yet, the Massachusetts Cape Cod community isn’t known for anything other than wealth and prestige. It’s predominantly white, has no social services, and is extraordinarily wealthy. It’s convenient to champion supposed humane causes when one isn’t affected by them.
Enter Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. On Wednesday, he flew 60 illegal immigrants from Venezuela into the rich white community from Florida. DeSantis said Republicans are taking the illegal immigration crisis seriously, unlike President Biden, who has refused to secure the border. He stated Florida is not a sanctuary state and that his administration will do what’s necessary to protect citizens from the impact of Biden’s border policies. It included facilitating the transfer of the migrants to sanctuary districts claiming to want them. The governor talked about human smuggling, drugs, and other illicit activities tied directly to illegal immigrants.
When reporters pressed him, DeSantis said it was okay for Biden to fly illegal immigrants across the country under cover of night. DeSantis emphasized the same illegal immigrant advocates screaming about morality today beat their chests with pride about their sanctuary status while Trump was president. Now that they have to deal with illegal immigration on a small scale, they are begging for help and claiming they don’t have the resources.
Administration Falsely Claims the Southern Border is Secure
Since October 2021, the Border Patrol reported it encountered nearly 2 million illegal immigrants by the end of July. Border towns are overrun. Texas border towns individually deal with 8,000 new illegal immigrants every day. Yet, Martha’s Vineyard got 60, and there is an uproar over a supposed humanitarian crisis.
So, let’s get this straight. An affluent community got 60 illegal immigrants, and it’s a humanitarian crisis. Texas border towns overrun – it’s just another day.
Earlier this week, Vice President Kamala Harris said the southern border was secure. Yet, reports emerged that illegal immigrants are killing family dogs for food, stealing from stores and homes, and knocking on doors in the middle of the night.
On Thursday morning, Fox News reporter Griff Jenkins talked to an illegal immigrant outside the Vice President’s home in Washington, DC. The migrant told him the southern border was wide open. He stated they came into the country for free. The migrant stated they saw on the news everybody comes illegally, so he did the same thing.
So, it would seem the administration needs to define what “secure” means. If you leave your front door unlocked and open at night, is your home really “secure?”
Biden Lashes Out and Considers Legal Options – Will it Work?
Instead of solving the illegal immigration crisis by closing the border and enforcing US immigration laws, Biden is striking out at Republicans. He said they are playing politics with people’s lives as if he wasn’t. Biden called the move to ship migrants to sanctuary cities and communities reckless and Un-American. He claimed there is a process in place at the southern border, but local residents argue differently.
On Friday morning, Axios reported the administration is looking into options, including legal action. On Thursday, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) stated Republican governors were kidnapping them. Yet, is it okay to fly people around the country at night to evade the media and scrutiny? What is Newsom’s definition of kidnapping?
What DeSantis managed to do was expose the virtual signaling and hypocrisy of Democrats on illegal immigration. How will voters respond, especially in the Hispanic community already moving away from Democrats?
